Description
  • Mature height: 3m-5m tall.
  • Recommended spacing for hedging / screening: 60cm-1m apart / 1m-2m apart.
  • Ideal growing conditions: Full sun/partial shade.
  • Growth rate: Moderate to fast.
  • Tolerates: Coastal conditions, light frost and drought once established.
  • Noteworthy: Psyllid resistant, Native, attracts wildlife (birds, bees and other pollinators), Edible berries, Evergreen - dense foliage.
  • Uses: Hedges/screens, Privacy, Street tree, Native gardens, Topiary.
  • Colour/Growth form: Compact glossy dark green leaves - New foliage is lighter Green. White fluffy flowers followed by Pink-red berries. Leaves are pointier shaped and it has a more upright/formal growth pattern compared to the 'Resilience' variety.

Platypus Plants is hands down the best quality, most affordable option for anyone buying plants within the SE QLD region. Karli and Marvin clearly care about their work, plants and customers. Despite the name of the business, there isn’t a big bill in sight. But, like a Platypus, they’re a hidden gem of a company.

- Insane value for money. The plants are in great condition, much bigger than expected, and have clearly been handled with love and care (including in transit).

- Uh, I am sorry - THE DELIVERY COSTS ARE INSANELY CHEAP. There’s a post below from someone, who I can only assume has made an error on the website, making some crazy rant about $100 delivery fees. That’s not the case. The nearest price to those from Platypus Plants was $50+ delivery. I got 18 large plants delivered for $20. Platypus Plants has a flat rate, and they are delivered BY the team themselves. No contractors. No dramas. I was drowning in plants within 48 hours of making an order. There are minimum delivery orders, but they are very reasonable imho.

- Aftercare is second to none. Karli and Marvin clearly know their stuff on plants, and Karli is trained in horticulture. They provide a handy cute little handout on how to look after my new lillypillies and other plants.

I’ll be telling everyone I know about these folks…but I don’t want them to get too popular because I might want to buy more from ‘em!

Beautiful and healthy plants - Photinia fraserii Red Robin

I purchased several Photinia Fraserii Red Robin plants and was impressed by their health and height. I also appreciated the helpful care card that provided guidance on planting and maintaining the plants. Marvin was great at answering my questions about how to space the hedge properly.

Service and delivery were great. The two magnolia little gems I purchased are just beautiful. Mature and lush. I was lucky enough to have a bud in each as well which have started to flower. Marvin and Karli were lovely and super helpful and took the time to answer questions about my garden when they delivered my trees. I highly recommend Platypus Plants.
