Lilly Pilly Information

Lilly Pilly (Syzygium) is a popular choice for hedges in Australia.

These plants are fast-growing, hardy, and drought-tolerant, making them well-suited to the climate and conditions in many parts of the country. They also have attractive glossy foliage and produce colourful berries, which can add interest and beauty to any garden.

There are many different varieties of Lilly Pilly that can be used as hedges, such as Syzygium australe “Resilience” (pictured) - which are native to Australia. This variety can be easily shaped and pruned to create a dense, formal hedge, or left to grow more naturally for a more informal look.

While the exact size of a Lilly Pilly plant will depend on its growing conditions and other factors, it is typically considered to be a medium-sized shrub or small tree that can reach heights of 3-5 metres and 2-3 metres in width.

Lilly Pilly’s are easy to maintain and do not require a lot of special care. However, it's important to provide the plants with adequate moisture and nutrients, and to prune them regularly to control their size and shape. With the right care, Lilly Pilly’s can provide an attractive and effective screen or barrier for your garden. Check out our Care Guide for more info.
